What does the perfect start to a new day look like?
The perfect start to a new day at Pension Sonia means getting up well-rested and enjoying a rich and nourishing breakfast. This is how the morning starts: with many different, fresh, and regional delicacies from our buffet like crispy bread, fruity jams, home-made cakes, creamy yogurt, healthy cereals, eggs from our chickens, crunchy vegetables, and a big variety of South Tyrolean cold cuts and cheese. And to drink? Would you like a cup of Italian coffee, or a tea made of South Tyrolean herbs? We will prepare your drink for you right away! After this delicious breakfast, you are well prepared for an active day in the South Tyrolean Dolomites.
Mountain air makes you hungry!
Chef and host Heinz will pamper all his guests with tasty, typically South Tyrolean dishes. You can look forward to meat dishes like goulash with speck dumplings, traditional pasta dishes like macaroni with minced meat, mushrooms, bacon, peas, cream, and ham, and sweet dishes like the famous “Kaiserschmarrn”.
After a long day in the mountains, a 3-course meal with tasty South Tyrolean dishes is waiting for our guests. A warm starter or a soup, a delicious main course, and a sweet dessert or a freshly made cake make the meal perfect. And who wants to, afterwards can chat with Anna and Heinz, and enjoy home-made schnapps.
To guarantee great quality and to emphasize the unique taste of the ingredients, chef Heinz uses only fresh, local products.
For our guests with allergies and intolerances, we prepare alternative dishes, as well as vegan and vegetarian alternatives.

In summer as well as in winter, we are the perfect starting point for sports activities, from hiking to skiing, from climbing to cross-country skiing. For sure it is not going to be boring!

An adventurous summer holiday in the Dolomites
Are you ready for a summer holiday in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage of the Dolomites? Spending your summer holiday with us, you have the choice between many different activities in the beautiful mountain paradise. Every day offers new possibilities to explore the South Tyrolean mountains. Go for a hike on one of the many paths, e.g., around the characteristic Geislerspitzen/Odle. Here, you will for sure find the perfect tour for every level and length and the view is simply stunning. If you want to go even higher, you can explore the Geisler and the whole dolomitic area on one of the many via ferrata or do some alpine climbing.
You prefer exploring the dolomitic valley of Villnöss/Funes by bike? The many, relatively moderately rising trails are the perfect terrain for all bike lovers. It doesn’t matter if you prefer the mountain bike or the e-bike, you will have a lot of fun cycling around our surroundings. We will happily provide the necessary tools to repair your bike and you can leave your bicycle in our garage, which is locked at night. There’s nothing left to do but hopping on the bike get going – adventure in the Dolomites awaits you!

Snow fun in Villnöss
Your winter adventure in South Tyrol
Are you ready for an exciting, varied winter holiday near the Geisler mountains? During winter, you can choose between many different sports activities in the snowy winter wonderworld: to get to know our most peaceful side, you need to go for a winter hike on snow-covered meadows and take a break in one of the traditional mountain huts.
On the other hand, exciting days are waiting for you on the slopes: directly next to our Pension Sonia, there is a ski lift, which is perfect for beginners. There is the possibility to take skiing classes in a group or alone. Children are divided into groups according to their age and know-how. There are two huts, where you can stop by and eat or drink something. As the ski lift is located right next to the hotel, you can also spend your lunch break at the pension. And to guarantee a varied skiing holiday, you can easily reach some other skiing areas: in 20 minutes by ski bus, you arrive at the skiing area Plosenear Brixen/Bressanone, in 30 minutes by car, you get to the Gröden/Gardena Valley and the famous Sella Ronda, and in 40 minutes, you are in the Pustertal/Pusteria Valley and can enjoy a pleasant day on the slopes of Kronplatz/Plan de Corones. If you prefer skiing far away from crowded slopes, you will have fun ski mountaineering in the Villnösstal Valley – we will happily answer you questions on this regard.
Your way to St. Magdalena
How to find us
When arriving by train, it’s best to get off at the train station in Brixen and take the bus number 330, which takes you to St. Magdalena in about 35 minutes. From the bus stop, it’s only a 300m walk to Pension Sonia.
When arriving by plane, it’s best to go to the bus station in Brixen. From there, the bus number 330 takes you to St. Magdalena in Villnöss. There is a shuttle service taking you from the airports to the train stations.
The best way to go to South Tyrol by car is on the highway A22:
· arriving from the south via Verona-Bozen-Klausen
· arriving from the north via Innsbruck-Brenner-Klausen
Leave the highway at the exit “Klausen/Chiusa”. Follow the street for about 2 kilometres in the direction of Brixen. Turn right following the signs to Villnöss.
